Jingle all the way...

No! Its not about Christmas or Santa!!!!!!!! Its about Diwali- 'the festival of lights'...I wouldn't be surprised if one tries to figure out a connection between them! Well, here it goes...

As the country is gearing up for yet another Diwali, there is something I notice which has emerged as a big time trend here in Tamil Nadu. It's the classy advertisements accompanied by catchy 'jingles'(now u know what I was referring to). The textile majors face stiff competition and what it takes for them to stay ahead is to do something offbeat or rather innovative. So, the wackiest and brilliant of minds are set to work...and what we get as an outcome is a group of beautiful maidens embellished in colorful n attractive drapes of silk dancing to the very catchy numbers (in well decorated interiors).A few years back, borrowed tunes from the movies were popular. But now its time for innovation, creativity and splendor. The most fanciful and creative promo makes a lot of business. It's more about the right kinda publicity than about the right kinda clothes!!Suprisingly, the innovative jingles are a hit...and I'm sure the trend is here to stay.

Gone are the days when advertisements were a mere accessory for a TV show. Apparently, only the breaks bring in joy and colour into homes after tiring n sorrowful soaps!! But what tires us even more is the repetition of the advertisements. Keeping in mind that these ads go on air almost thrice every half hour...thereby making it a compulsion for the brain to register it in all our minds that u often find some one humming those tunes with a smile. Cause the jingles are easy and fun to hum!

Strange to note that inspite of all the criticism and monotonous repetition...the creative attempts of the commercial biggies bring in happiness and ethusisiasm. Diwali is about sharing, caring and eating of course! (not to forget the sweets)...And in short, diwali is celebration! So! what if you keep hearing the same jingles all the time...it brightens our day...after all that's what diwali is about!

Your writing is really good. After reading Jingles i wonder how a common thing that we get to see everything could be described such beautifully. The way of narration is too cool.Starting with diwali and coming to jingles was a fantastic start.I guess Vidya u would be very good narrator if u try your hand at some stories
